Method

  1. Tall glass filled to the top with ice — more than looks sensible. A half-empty glass of ice melts faster and dilutes harder.
  2. 2 oz vodka, then cold tonic poured down the side.
  3. One gentle lift. Stirring a tonic drink is how it goes flat.
  4. Lime squeezed and dropped in. Tonic is sweet and quinine is bitter; without acid it is a soft drink with vodka in it.
