Salmon taco with slaw
Flake the salmon. Dress the cabbage hard.
The sheet · 2 plates · 20 min
easyWhy tonight. Flake the salmon. Dress the cabbage hard.
What it needs
Nothing confirmed on your shelf yet — this list is the whole ask.
- salmon
- tortillas
- cabbage
- lime
Good if you have them, fine if you do not: yogurt, cilantro.
Method
- Cabbage shredded thin, dressed with lime and salt fifteen minutes ahead. It needs the time; the salmon does not.
- Salmon cooked hot and fast and pulled while the center is still slightly translucent. It finishes as it flakes.
- Yogurt thinned with lime as the sauce, on the tortilla before the fish.
- Char the tortillas dry, flake the salmon on in big pieces, slaw over, lime again. Do not flake it fine — it turns to paste.

What the method is trying to make happen
Sequence, correction, heat and texture, equipment workarounds, scaling, and component reuse are available with this cook sheet.
An educational plan from a curated corpus. Not a nutrition, allergen, or doneness guarantee.
Cook or pour it, then edit the shelf if you emptied a bottle or used the last of something.
The technique underneath this
Going wrong while you cook it? Say what it is doing and the triage will tell you what is happening, the smallest move, and the instinct to resist.
Published minimums for what is in this
These are published minimums, not doneness preferences and not a verdict about any particular piece of food. Ground meat sits above whole cuts of the same animal because grinding moves the surface through the middle — the species is not the reason.

Why each of these is on the list
What the ingredients are actually doing
- salmon
- Fatty enough to forgive a lot, but not overcooking.
- tortillas
- They want direct heat before they go anywhere near a plate.
- cabbage
- Cheap, keeps for weeks, and completely different raw and cooked.
- lime
- Sharper and more floral than lemon, and it fades faster — juice it the same hour you use it.
Missing one of them? The substitutions are written against those jobs rather than against a chart, so they say what each replacement costs this dish in particular.
