Method

  1. The Japanese take this seriously and they are right: a highball is a technique, not a shortcut.
  2. Frozen glass, hard ice packed to the top, whisky in and stirred once to chill it before the soda.
  3. Soda poured down the side against the ice, and then exactly one gentle lift with the spoon.
  4. Every extra stir costs bubbles, and the bubbles are the drink. A lemon peel expressed and dropped in.
