easyWhy tonight. Scotch and Drambuie. Start at four to one and adjust — Drambuie is honeyed and it takes over quickly.
What it needs
Nothing confirmed on your shelf yet — this list is the whole ask.
- scotch
- drambuie
Method
- 2 oz Scotch, ½ oz Drambuie, stirred over ice and served on a big cube.
- Drambuie is Scotch with honey and herbs already in it, so this is one spirit lightly sweetened by a version of itself.
- Start at 4:1 and adjust. Most published recipes are far too sweet and are the reason this drink acquired its reputation.
- Lemon peel expressed over the top cuts the honey more than an orange one does.

What the method is trying to make happen
Sequence, correction, heat and texture, equipment workarounds, scaling, and component reuse are available with this cook sheet.
An educational pour, not a reprint of a licensed spec. No allergen or alcohol-safety claim.
Cook or pour it, then edit the shelf if you emptied a bottle or used the last of something.
Going wrong while you cook it? Say what it is doing and the triage will tell you what is happening, the smallest move, and the instinct to resist.

Why each of these is on the list
What the ingredients are actually doing
- scotch
- Malt, smoke or both depending on the bottle, and it does not sit quietly under other ingredients.
- drambuie
- Scotch sweetened with honey and herbs, so it is both the spirit and the sugar in whatever it lands in.
Missing one of them? The substitutions are written against those jobs rather than against a chart, so they say what each replacement costs this dish in particular.

Shares drambuie, scotch
Drambuie toddy
Hot toddy with honey-whisky liqueur and a little scotch. Lemon. Cinnamon stick if you want. Don't boil it. A mug, not a glass.
Shares scotch
Godfather
Scotch and amaretto, and nothing else. Two ingredients, poured over one big cube, and it is a whole after-dinner drink.
Shares drambuie
Drambuie highball
Honey-whisky liqueur lengthened. Lemon so it is not candy. A splash of scotch if you want more peat.
Shares scotch
Rob Roy
A Manhattan made with scotch. Blended scotch keeps it civil; a peated malt turns it into something else entirely.

Cook it, then tell the shelf what you used.
The ranking is only as honest as the shelf behind it. Empty the cream, and everything that leaned on cream should stop being offered.
