Method

  1. Tonic and ice in the glass first, then cold espresso or strong cold brew poured slowly over the back of a spoon so it sits in a layer.
  2. Coffee poured in first makes a muddy brown drink; poured last it stripes and then settles as you drink it.
  3. Orange peel expressed over the top — citrus oil is what makes this taste designed rather than accidental.
  4. No sugar. The tonic already has it, and this is meant to be bitter.
