What it needs
Nothing confirmed on your shelf yet — this list is the whole ask.
- yogurt
- cardamom
- honey
- lime
Good if you have them, fine if you do not: mint.
Method
- Whisk the yogurt smooth with a little water first, before anything else goes in. Added to a full glass it stays lumpy.
- Crush the cardamom pods and use the seeds, ground. Pre-ground cardamom has lost most of what it had.
- Honey stirred in while it is still loose, then the rest of the water or milk to the thickness you want.
- A pinch of salt, which sounds wrong in a sweet drink and is the difference between good and flat.
An educational pour, not a reprint of a licensed spec. No allergen or alcohol-safety claim.
Cook or pour it, then edit the shelf if you emptied a bottle or used the last of something.
Why each of these is on the list
What the ingredients are actually doing
- yogurt
- Acid and creaminess together, which is why it works as a sauce with no cooking at all.
- cardamom
- Floral, resinous and expensive, so it is easy to overdo.
- honey
- Sweetness with a floral edge and enough body to change the texture of what it is in.
- lime
- Sharper and more floral than lemon, and it fades faster — juice it the same hour you use it.
Missing one of them? The substitutions are written against those jobs rather than against a chart, so they say what each replacement costs this dish in particular.

Shares yogurt, cardamom, honey
Cardamom lassi highball
Lassi lengthened with soda. Cardamom, honey, lime. It should be a drink, not a smoothie. Don't blend ice cream into it.
Shares honey, lime
Honey mezcal sour
Honey syrup and lime against smoke. Let the honey down with warm water first or it sinks straight to the bottom.
Shares cardamom, honey
Kefir cardamom fizz
Kefir, a cracked pod, honey, lemon, soda. Alive and tart. Mint if you have it. Don't shake the soda. It should taste like a lassi that went to a bar.
Shares lime, honey
Kefir lime cooler
Tart dairy lengthened with lime and honey, which is closer to a lassi than a soft drink and far more interesting than either.

Cook it, then tell the shelf what you used.
The ranking is only as honest as the shelf behind it. Empty the cream, and everything that leaned on cream should stop being offered.
