Method

  1. 2 oz vodka, ½ oz amaretto, stirred over one big cube.
  2. The Godfather's vodka cousin, and being a blank spirit it needs less amaretto rather than more — 4:1, not the equal parts some books print.
  3. Stir it long. The dilution is the only thing softening it.
  4. Lemon peel expressed over the top, which is not traditional and stops the almond from cloying.
